Hi everybody! Just want you to know I’m playing at the „Kunst und Bühne“ in Celle on the 26th of March. I will be doing some new piano selections, some older guitar songs, a couple sax covers, and some personal remarks on and about the German language, which you know is my favorite language up to now. Hope to see you there. If you can’t make it , come to the club and say hello when you have time.
See you then, Alan
Hello world, it’s time for an update, because there are only two things in life that are for certain: one of them is change, and the other one we refuse to mention.
First change; the wine-bar in Celle is now open. My brother Bruce will be arriving from America next week to help us with our first tastings. Should be fun.
Second change, I’ll be recording some new piano tunes starting in late November; I hope they will be done in time so that I don’t have to decide what to get you for Christmas this year.
Third change; I’ll be performing regularly with Michel Jehlen, my best guitar buddy. It’s great to play with someone better than you are! Now I get to have fun listening as well as playing.
Fourth change, I hardly ever drink beer anymore………………..just wine…………..I just keep thinking of the health benefits.
More later, Alan
For those of you who might have asked yourself, “what ever happened to that aging germanized-American-hippy guy that used to play in the Irish Pubs?”, here is the answer.
He’s opening a club…….(Weinstube-Winebar)……..in Celle, Germany. That’s near Hannover, for those of you whose knowledge of German geography is as good as my knowledge of English geography.
We’re going to have LIVE MUSIC, mostly from me, of course; (they can’t fire me now, ha ha), and some excellent wine from America, Australia and Europe, brought to you by my brother Bruce.
He knows more about wine than I do about guitars, and will be responsible for teaching us what and how much of it to drink.
During the day, the club will be transformed, by Tanja Petri, into a photo studio, so I can make some money even when I’m not working, and in the evenings, the music will begin.
There will be regularly scheduled wine tastings, with a baby grand on the stage, so that I can finally play what I’ve been practicing for five years.
What kind of piano music does a guitarist/saxophonist/singer play? This is your chance to come in and find out!
We will be starting a little earlier (8pm) than in the pubs, so if you don’t like it, you’ll still have time to go somewhere else.
Of course we will be focusing on original music, but will remain open to all other art forms as well, as long as a certain degree of artistic creativity and, well,……….wierdness is displayed.
For the next month or so, we will be busy with cleaning, remodeling, installing the stage lights, importing the wine, and learning how to operate a coffee machine.
As soon as the opening is scheduled, we’ll let you know!
Till then, Alan
